Single Room Occupancy (SRO) is a program in which single, homeless males are eligible to apply to live in the Lima YMCA Annex in a dormitory style setting. Interested parties must receive a referral form from AMHA and then may apply at the YMCA Annex for this waiting list. The SRO waiting list is always open. Interested applicants can visit our office at 600 S. Main Street Lima, Ohio 45804 during normal business hours. Applicants are asked to bring:

  • A photo ID
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
  • Recent bank or or other asset balance statement
  • Proof of income or benefits they receive including Social Security, SSI, and/or employment.

This grant-funded permanent supportive housing (PSH) program serves individuals and small households in Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin counties. Eligible candidates must contain at least one disabled member and be literally homeless at time of eligibility screening (for example, in a shelter or place not meant for habitation).

Intake for this program is part of a coordinated entry process with designated area Access Points at Samaritan House and WOCAP. There is no waiting list for Shelter Plus Care Vouchers. A prioritization team within the local Continuum of Care determines when to offer a new voucher and to whom. Criteria is based on point-in-time need and availability of grant funds. There are a few additional differences but this program is administered in way that is similar to Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.

Project Based Vouchers (PBV) are for designated units subsidized by the PHA’s Section 8 program but not available to Housing Choice Voucher holders. Currently, a total of 32 project based voucher units are under contract with AMHA, including 24 units at Maplewood Apartments and 8 units with Coleman Health Services. To apply for rental assistance under a PBV, you must complete an application with AMHA. Maplewood PBV applications are available on our website and Coleman PBV applications are available on paper at our agency.
